Abstract:
This paper describes the design and tuning of a fuzzy logic controller(FLC) for controlling the level of water on real time basis, in a laboratory scale pilot plant using genetic algorithm(GA). Selection of appropriate condition and action variables are selected optimally by using genetic algorithm, a probabilistic search technique inspired by mechanisms of natural selection and genetics. The optimal selection of MFs is made by minimizing intergral time square error(ITSE), an indication of FLC performance. The performances of both genetic algorithm based FLC(GA-FLC)and traditional FLC are compared.
