The explosive growth of the internet and the World Wide Web (WWWW) in recent years has impact on almost every field of human activity while its effect on librarianship is more intensive owing to the information component attached to the professionals. For the first time in history, the WWW with its suite of standards and respective technologies made significant strides in the field of information transfer and knowledge management by liberating the basic static nature of the ordinary text, making it dynamic and powerful. The Web has opened up a new school of thought, the hypertext world, with its unquestioned ability in distributed computing on a global scale.
