There has been a paradigm shift the world over, the way how information and knowledge is being generated, stored, accessed, disseminated and consumed. Information and communication technology (ICT) is the game changer in this and it has propelled the growth of large numbers of electronic resources across the world. Organizations now spend a major portion of their budget for subscribing to electronic resources such as e-journals, e-books, bibliographic/full-text databases, online services and web portals. It is imperative on the part of the information professional to have a componentized and a multi-system approach to knowledge technologies and information management. Seamless aggregation and meticulous integration of diverse data streams embracing the traditional as well as the electronic information is the most appropriate strategy to be adopted and applied.
