Abstract:
To be able to make environmentally aware decisions, consumers must have both information and certain practical skills and knowledge. They must also have individual and collective competencies for decision-making to engage in public debate on environmental protection. Governments and other stakeholders must make progress in better targeting environment and consumption information and communicating it more effectively. Given both the challenges and opportunities consumers face in finding and using information to reduce their environmental impacts, it is important to improve the effectiveness of measures and policies to stimulate action from individuals and communities.
